| Heating problems mostly relate to engine oil problems. There is usually one or more of the following problem; no oil, low oil, very dirty oil, or the wrong oil. Most oils are graded and finding the proper oil is not a problem. The oil grading system is usually designated as follows: S - Spark Ignition (Gasoline) H - Sophistication of the additive package (The higher the letter the better the package) C - Compression Ignition (Diesel) E - Sophistication of the additive package Multiweight oils will generally breakdown sooner than a straight weight. The W stands for Winter (Not Weight) as in 10W30. Improper sealing of the thermostat can also cause overheating as will the thermostatically controlled fan operating improperly. The fan should kick in at 165 degrees.
