| YEAR-ROUND PERFORMANCE, ECONOMY AND PROTECTION For faster starts, improved performance and greater fuel economy, professional diesel operators choose Stanadyne's team of additives - Performance Formula and Winter Formula. In a comprehensive Fleet Test, Stanadyne additives were proven to enhance fuel economy, add horsepower and reduce emissions. Now, in a test of Pump Durability, the benefits of regularly using Stanadyne additives are conclusively demonstrated. Stanadyne Test Engineers ran two identically prepared fuel pumps for more than 2,000 hours, the on-road equivalent of up to 125,000 miles. Both ran DF-2 diesel fuel, one had Stanadyne fuel conditioner added at a ratio of 1:500. Many competitive additives are known to reduce the operating life of the fuel pump. In this test, the control pump lost efficiency and might have failed if it had used one of these competitive formulas. On the other hand, the pump operating with Stanadyne additives showed virtually no wear and could have remained in service for thousands of additional miles. These pictures give clear evidence that year-round treatment with Stanadyne diesel additives will prolong your fuel injection system's life. NOW TO THE PICTURES...
THE DISASSEMBLED TEST PUMPS - At the end of the test, the pumps were completely disassembled and inspected. The control pump, at left, shows obvious and widespread discoloration due to fuel deposits.
THE PUMP BODIES - Note the heavy deposits on the control pump. These build-ups increase friction and decrease efficiency and pump life.
METERING VALVES - The control pump valve failed because it became so gummed that it stuck. Compare it's appearance with the same valve from the Stanadyne-treated pump, at right.
PUMP BLADES - The difference in wear was extraordinary. Note the severe chipping and wear marks that are apparent on the control pump's blades.
PRIMARY SCREEN - When removed from the control pump, the screen at left was almost completely plugged. In service this condition would have resulted in the complete rebuilding of the pump. The Stanadyne-treated pump's screen is still almost as clean as new, and would allow efficient pump operation.
SECONDARY SCREEN - Stanadyne fuel additives disperse insoluble hydrocarbons. On these screens, the difference is literally like black and white.
